Accessibility statement
This website (colinjamesfirth.uk) is run by me, Colin James Firth.
I want as many people as possible to be able to use this website, so I’ve put some effort into accessibility.
That means you should be able to:
- change colours, contrast levels and fonts (with additional software or browser settings)
- zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
- navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
- navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
- listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
Additional accessibility features:
- I’ve kept the website text as simple as possible to understand
- If your system, device or browser settings are set to ‘reduce motion’, the website should remove animations and transitions. On a technical level, I’ve used the css media query
prefers-reduced-motion: reduce
to do that. - If your system, device or browser settings are set to ‘dark mode’, the website should show with dark backgrounds and white text. On a technical level, I’ve used the css media query
prefers-color-scheme: dark
to do this.
AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.
Applicable standards
This website aims to be fully compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard.
Alternative formats
If you need information on this website in a different format like accessible PDFs, large print, easy read, audio recording or braille, let me know. I’ll consider your request and get back to you in no more than seven days.
Non-accessible content
The site includes a number of screenshots, example designs and other images, often taken from other websites or apps. These images themselves are static and may not be fully accessible, depending on individual users’ needs.
Some of the content is meant for a technical audience and might sound like jargon to some users.
Let me know about any accessibility errors
I want the whole site to be as accessible as possilbe using a variety of methods.
If you find something that isn’t accessible, or could be done better, please let me know.
